Angel joined Tony in working for TWR Canada’s Persian Ministry in the late 1990s. Her father, the first writer for Tony’s radio programs, was martyred after ten years in prison when Angel was just 16. Her father’s faith inspired her to live for Christ.
She began discipling others and hosting Bible studies in her home, though at great personal risk. After being arrested and imprisoned for 10 days, Angel prayed for a sign of God’s presence. She received a Quran and a radio instead. Despite the poor reception, she prayed for a signal.
One day, Tony’s voice broke through the static, speaking about Joseph in prison — a reminder that God had not abandoned her. That experience continues to shape her work in program production today, as she seeks to bring the hope of the gospel to those in desperate need.
Samy’s faith journey began in a Muslim Shia family. After his father’s death, he was adopted by a Jewish man and grew up learning the Old Testament. When his family prayed for the Messiah one evening, Samy’s curiosity was piqued. Three days later, he heard on the radio, “Jesus is the Messiah.” Intrigued, he wrote to the program, received a New Testament and soon accepted Christ as his Saviour.
After being arrested for his faith in 2012, Samy fled to Turkey, where he met Tony. Now he serves with TWR Canada’s Persian Ministry.
Youngest team member Danial, was raised in a ministry-focused family and grew up in the midst of persecution during the revolution. He was baptized by Tony at age 14, and over the years has seen how conferences help Persian believers grow in faith.
Parsa, once a translator for web radio in Turkey, also came to faith while working with a revolutionary guard. Today he continues to serve in web radio and social media. Despite challenges like government censorship, the response to their broadcasts has been overwhelmingly positive.
