Speaking Hope

Making Disciples of the Nations

Making Disciples of the Nations

For many of us the New Year brings new opportunities – setting exciting goals, pursuing self-improvement or turning the page on a challenging season of life.

But for precious lives in Lebanon, the stark realities of economic crisis and escalating regional conflict have simply carried into another calendar year. Yet amidst the violence and turmoil, and through your faithful generosity, God is opening hearts to the Good News of Jesus and many are turning to faith as a source of comfort, hope and peace.

Since 2022, a partnership with Together Network in Lebanon has equipped over 5,000 Christians from a Muslim background using TWR Canada’s Discipleship Essentials program for an outreach initiative engaging 70,000 people across the nation.

The result: 3,000 new believers finding meaningful connection with a discipleship group as of the end of 2024.

The story of Alif below is but one example of the impact your partnership is having through focused discipleship campaigns.

My name is Alif, a Syrian Kurd from Afrin. When the Syrian war began, my family and I fled to Lebanon. It was nothing short of a miracle that we made it out. But in Lebanon,

the scars of war followed us. Every day brought new struggles, and the trauma weighed heavily on our hearts.

About a year ago, we met Sister Shilan (a graduate of the Discipleship Essentials training program) who spoke to us of Jesus, saying, “He is the only true security.” At first, her words felt distant, like a language I didn’t fully understand. But her kindness was something we hadn’t seen in a long time. When the world seemed to crumble around us, she stayed, guiding us and comforting us. Her faith became a light in our darkness, and I began to wonder if there could be hope for us too.

Then, recently, another tragedy struck—a bombing, close to our home. The blast shook everything. In the chaos, my daughter was trapped under a heavy wardrobe. Helpless, I could do nothing but cry out, “Jesus, please help us!” I didn’t fully understand what I was asking, but I had nowhere else to turn. I prayed, and then a miracle happened. My daughter was rescued unharmed, miraculously protected as if by unseen hands. She later told me she had felt someone protecting her, though she saw no one there.

In that moment, I knew—Jesus had saved her. I felt a faith and peace I had never

known, a reassurance that Jesus was truly with us. We lost our home, but I believe now that Jesus has given us something far greater—a new life, a new hope, and a deep sense of His presence with us. Even in the darkest moments, He is there, and I know we are no longer alone.

As we begin a new year, can we call upon your gift of generosity again in 2025 to carry on the work of equipping the nations to make even more disciples of Jesus?

I WANT TO SEE DISCIPLES MULTIPLIED!

Thank you for praying with us and supporting this vital ministry of speaking hope to the world.

With deepest gratitude,
