Empowered to Preach Through a Media Player

Partnering with Thru the Bible and ShareWord Global, TWR Canada has sent 1,000 media players to Kenya in recent years. Each player is loaded with an audio New Testament, Thru the Bible sermons and Bible stories for children. And did you know that just one media player can impact hundreds? Take, for example, a pastor equipped through this device to grow his faith and share God’s Word more effectively with his congregation and community!

Pastor Lawrence is passionate about evangelism and planted a church through his evangelism efforts in Kathangari village in Embu County. In 2021, Shareword Global distributed media players in Embu country and gave Pastor Lawrence a media player in his heart language of Swahili. Today, he holds it as a precious gift and treasures it, confessing, “It has been more than an audio Bible to me; it is a BIBLE SCHOOL. I listen to it at home and work. Wherever I am, it comes with me and is part of me.”

Because of this media player, Pastor Lawrence has grown in his biblical knowledge. Due to inadequate education as a child, he was unable to pursue theological studies beyond a certificate of introductory biblical studies. However, the programs on this media player assist Pastor Lawrence in preaching, discipleship and teaching Bible studies.

When visited by the ShareWord Global team recently, Pastor Lawrence shared that he has listened through all 1,328 Thru the Bible programs, taking notes as he listened, and is now starting the series for a second time. He has learned about church history and about details of Bible stories that he didn’t know or understand before, such as why God punished Israel, details about the lives of Old Testament kings, and why Balaam did what he did (Numbers 23-25).

Pastor Lawrence concluded by sharing that the media player has been of great benefit to him because the little theological education he did have has been empowered by the teachings and systematic arrangement of the programs on the media player. Praise God!

Pastor Lawrence is not the only one who has been equipped and empowered by a media player.
