Prone to Wander
Prone to Wander
“...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” (Romans 3:23)
God’s Word is never shy in pointing out that we are sinful people. Every single one of us has sinned and continues to struggle with sin every day. “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” by Robert Robinson describes it this way: “Prone to wander, Lord I feel it/Prone to leave the God I love.”
Sin is so deeply ingrained into who we are that each and every one of us is prone to leave our God. We all fall short and are in desperate need of help. The song then goes on to say, “Here’s my heart, oh take and seal it/Seal it for thy courts above.”
When faced with the reality of all the ways that we have fallen short of the glory of God, all we can do is turn to the LORD for help. Romans 3 goes on to say that although we have sinned and fallen short, through Christ we are justified because he died in our place to save us.
When we find ourselves wandering and turning away from the God we love, may we remember the grace of God and ask that he would take and seal our hearts for himself.
