Praise the Lord of Creation
Praise the Lord of Creation
“O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above heavens… When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” (Psalm 8:1, 3-4)
In the beginning, God created the world and all that is in it, and he called it very good. Into all of his creation he wove beautiful threads that point us to his greater beauty and worth. He created the great lights, the sun, moon, and stars, and set them in the sky along with the planets and the clouds. He created the sunrises and sunsets, the rain and the snow, the winds and the rainbows. He raised up great trees and decorated the fields with bright flowers. He built great mountains and dug out great canyons and valleys. He sent out small creeks and streams and created all the mysteries of the deepest oceans. His signature is scattered throughout the universe, even beyond what we have discovered at this point!
Truly, his name is majestic in all the earth! Having made all these massive and grand things that we look at in awe, and knitting together the minute and complex details that we overlook, he also made us and cares for us. In the midst of all this grandeur and beauty, who are we that he should care for us? But he does care and set in us a unique detail, his very image. Let us praise the Lord of creation who is mindful of us and who cares for us! Let the beauty of creation direct our hearts to praise our great and beautiful God!
