Joy to the World
Joy to the World
“And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Saviour of the world.” (1 John 4:14)
Isaac Watts wrote, “Joy to the world, the Lord is come/Let earth receive her King,” and joyous this is indeed! Jesus has come! The Father has sent his one and only Son into the world as a baby to be the Saviour of this fallen world. Truly, he is the greatest joy this world has ever and will ever know.
The Saviour reigns and the heavens and earth rejoice! That baby born in Bethlehem is God with us and he has come to redeem all creation. He humbled himself on earth to raise us up to life. He was born so that we could be born again. No more will sin and sorrow grow, for Christ has come to make all things new.
This year may the joy of Christmas not be lost on us, but may we see the beauty of Christ and rejoice in the knowledge that he has come! In every joy that this Christmas season brings, may we be reminded of the even greater joy we have in knowing Christ, and when we feel that joy is hard to find, let us look toward him trusting that he is enough.
