He Will Hold Me Fast

“Be to me a rock of refuge, to which I may continually come; you have given the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.” (Psalm 71:3)

God is a rock and refuge for those who trust in him. God’s people can always come to him. He cares for them and will not leave or forsake them.

The song “He Will Hold Me Fast” tells of many instances of God’s steadfast love and the ways Christ holds fast to those he loves. “Those he saves are his delight/Christ will hold me fast/Precious in his holy sight/he will hold me fast/He’ll not let my soul be lost/his promises shall last/bought by him at such a cost/he will hold me fast.”

Even if we are abandoned and forsaken by the world, the LORD God loves those he has saved, and he will not leave them. Christ is our Saviour, our rock, and our refuge.  When he holds someone in his hands, he will not let them go but will hold fast to them in his love and grace.

Let us lean upon him and trust in his unfailing love forever. Let us hold fast to him, believing that he will hold fast to us.
