“Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm!” (Psalm 47:6-7)
“Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him all creatures here below; praise him above ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.”
Thomas Ken wrote these words as the closing verse to three of his hymns, and they have since been well loved by many as a call to praise the LORD. This call is also seen time and time again in the Bible, such as in Psalm 47 where we are called to praise God our King.
He created this world and all that is in it, and he rules over it all in mercy, justice and love. The LORD is our King; all creatures and all angels and all of creation are called to praise the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. As we grow to know God, our eyes are opened to see his goodness and our hearts are inclined to delight in him more and more.
May our knowledge of God grow into love for God and lead to praise of his holy name.
