Because the Sinless Saviour Died
Because the Sinless Saviour Died
“And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him…” (Colossians 1:21-22)
Whether a person was born and raised in a Christian household, didn’t come to know God until late in life, or never comes to know and love God, the Bible makes it clear that we were all at one time or another hostile towards God. God is holy and we are insistent upon sinning and having our own way. Our souls are held captive to our sinful nature and we have no means of breaking free on our own.
However, there is a way to be free and at peace with God instead of being hostile toward him.
“Before the Throne of God Above” by Charitie Lee Smith is a hymn rich in its descriptions of the beauty of God’s grace and speaks to our sin dilemma: “Because the sinless Saviour died/My sinful soul is counted free/For God the just is satisfied/To look on him and pardon me.”
Jesus, the sinless Saviour, lived, died, and rose again to free our sinful souls and to reconcile us to himself.
When Satan tempts us to despair and tells us of the guilt within, let us look to Jesus and trust in what he has done to free us from our bondage to sin.
