A Worthwhile Waiting
A Worthwhile Waiting
“And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken. It will be said on that day, ‘Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him, let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.’” (Isaiah 25:7-9)
Do these verses make your heart ache for this day? Perhaps your waiting, your tears and your pain have been heavy, or perhaps you feel that this life is very good and you’re in no hurry to leave it. Either way, there is something better to come – the kingdom of God, our victorious, mighty, living, well-worth-the-waiting God!
He is not slow, he is not silent, he is not sleeping. He will open the eyes of the blind. He will wipe away tears from despairing faces and he will swallow up death forever.
He will renew and restore his people in an unfading way and will bring us to everlasting life. We will say on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him, let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation” (Is. 25:9).
Let us look forward to this renewal trusting that our God is well worth our waiting. He has come and he will come again!
